Today marks the 1st anniversary of the February 22nd Christchurch earthquake. It is a day for remembering the people who died on that day, for remembering our friends and family who were affected by the earthquakes both in September 2010 and in February 2011. Our school will have a period of silence at 1.55 to mark this anniversary and to reflect on the tragic events of that day.
The library has several of the books which have been written to commemorate the earthquake and these have been very popular over the last year as students learn more about the effects of earthquakes and they read them to connect with what they have heard in the media and read in the newspapers over the last year. If you would like to borrow these books you may have to reserve them because they are so popular but they will give you an in-depth look at the damage and also give you stories of bravery and survival.
