The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman

Review by Chris Harbrow as part of the 50 Book Challenge

This is the second book in the His Dark Materials series.  The second book starts with an accidental death, someone who was asking questions about Will Parry's father who has mysteriously disappeared.  This sets off a quest for Will to find his father.  Will then walks into a window in thin air and he ends up in another world which is called Cittagazzze.  It is a world that kind of is like our world but is very different as well. Will meets Lyla, who is the main character in the first book in the series which is called the Northern Lights.  They have to deal with spectres, angels and the mysterious torre, there is an important secret that everyone wants.

I thought this was a really good book, and the ending came too soon.  I'm looking forward to book 3. I think lots of people would really like this book and not just kids.

Here is the link to Philip Pullman's website where he talks about these books and the other books he has written.
