Teacher passtimes

This morning in the library workroom Mr Greenfield was seen to be having a lovely time. He discovered a website which has templates for starwars paper models. He happily set about using his free period to begin construction of R2D2.
Here he is, totally engrossed.

The finished product is in the top photo. I didn't end up with R2D2 I got a black stormtrooper, one of the boys made the other one. Very cool!

The Information Revolution

For students and parents alike, the internet and accessing the information you need to do research assignments and complete homework can be a case of information overload. Watch this and you will see why.

So, with all this incredible information out there how can you harness it! Go the the library, ask the librarian, and see what happens. I bet the librarian can give you some starting points, show you some websites that will help you make your way through the maze.

Dis Information and other wikkid myths by Dr Karl Kurszelnicki

Do you watch Mythbusters on TV? If Mythbusters is your kind of telly then you should have a go at reading books by Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. We have quite a few of them in the library and they are funny, interesting and appeal to people who like a book you can 'dip into' and come back to again and again.

Karl Kruszelnicki (fabulous name) is an Australian, he is a guest on lots of radio programmes and TV shows in Australia, and is funny, clever and highly entertaining.

In this particular book he will debunk the myth of flesh eating pirhanhas being the deadliest fish, that oranges are the perfect way to get your vitamin C, that when your cat purrs it is happy, and that Cleopatra was insanely beautiful. But wait there is more, hands up if you think carrots make you see in the dark, want to know how a lie detector works? Then this book is perfect for you.
Highly recommended for all sorts of people who want a laugh, to know some more 'stuff' and who want to while away a few minutes of quality time filling their brain.

A Crack In The Line by Michael Lawrence

What's it about: This book is about a girl and a boy who are living in seperate realitties. The boy who is called Alaric Underwood lives with his Dad in a crumbling mansion. His mother has died and his life is pretty miserable. A girl, called Naia lives in a mansion as well but one snowy day she finds a boy sitting in her house, it's Alaric Underwood. He says it's his house, why does he look like her? In this reality Alaric's mum hasn't died
and she has a different child. Freaky stuff.
What did I like most about this book: It was different and interesting.
What didn't I like: It was kinda strange! But I have to read the next one now!
