Magician by Raymond E. Fiest

Reviewed by Josh Russell (Year 13)

Magician follows the story of Pug as he goes from adolescent to young man. The story is set in a world with magic, dragons, elves and interplanetary travel. The time it is set in is a medieval era in which there is a war with another planet occuring. The magic is seperated into two paths, and instead of being big glowing fruits of magic they affect the nature of things. This is the first of three books in the Riftwar Saga and you can get them all at the library, although they are often issued even though there are lots of copies. I recommend you reserve a copy for yourself.

I really like this book. It is one of the bost epic fantasy novels ever written. I have read a lot of fantasy novels - almost all of the ones in our library and a lot of the Public Library ones and this is one of my real favourites. I recommend it to everyone.

Visit the website of Raymond E. Feist and look at the other books he has written. After you read this series you will probably need to read more!
